Getting started

Enter who WordCatch is for, and allow the permissions it asks for.
Pick a few words the person uses often. For each, record them saying it at least twice, on different days if you can.
Turn on Learn automatically on the Listen screen. When they repeat a word and someone says it back, WordCatch learns it.

Common questions

It says speech recognition isn’t available

Turn on Settings › General › Keyboard › Enable Dictation, which downloads Apple’s speech model, or download Whisper in WordCatch’s Settings › Whisper.

It confuses the person with someone else

Add family and caretaker voices in Settings › Voices. Each person talks for about 20 seconds.

The voice sounds robotic

In Settings › Voice, download a natural AI voice (listen to samples first), or get Apple’s free Premium voices in your device’s Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices.

Two words keep getting mixed up

Record both words back to back a few times. WordCatch shows which pairs it mixes up on the Words screen and in its accuracy report.

Backing up and moving to a new device

In Settings › Backups, choose a folder in iCloud Drive and turn on daily backups. On a new device, install WordCatch and use Restore in the same place.
